Local information is undeniably important to people’s everyday lives. It is the glue that can transform a group of people who just happen to live in the same physical area into a community. And our shared experiences must rely on information that is reliable, relevant, and convenient. Simply put, how we learn about everything from the weather, to our schools, or a new housing project or restaurant, matters. 

I’ve spent my media career helping brands connect with different communities, with an emphasis on digital, where it’s easier to reach large groups with common interests. The size of these groups appeals to large brands but often isn’t as helpful for local businesses, where it can feel like a lot of wasted effort talking to people far from their store or service area. Connecting the digital dots at scale has proven to be elusive on the local level, but that is exactly what we are doing at NewsBreak, and it is thrilling to be able to help businesses of all sizes leverage these connections.

Our app works in every town in the United States, and the chance to help brands figure out how to be relevant participants wherever they want really excites me. And it’s not just the where, it’s the how. Depending on the community and brand, I’m excited to help establish new ad and content products to authentically bring these relationships forward. Local businesses are part of the fabric of our towns and communities – they’re a big part of what makes everything tick. And NewsBreak is uniquely positioned to help them by sharing their new service offerings, special deals, or job listings to people who can take advantage of them. Building upon our existing ad tools and business models to drive local businesses forward is going to be a really fun challenge.
