The NewsBreak team is honored to be the inaugural winner of the award for the Most Innovative Use of AI by a news organization (250k+ MPV division) at the 2024 LMA Digital Innovation Awards, announced last week.
The new award, sponsored by Alliance for Audited Media, acknowledged our creative use of AI to integrate data from numerous news sources into a personalized, real-time Wildfire Map that helped Californians access critical information during one of the state’s most dangerous wildfire seasons.
“When we saw the wildfires happening, we wanted to find a way to help. I’m so proud of our team for mobilizing to serve the community by making life-critical information more accessible,” NewsBreak founder Jeff Zheng says. “Using AI for good is why we build.”
As the wildfires spread, NewsBreak was inspired to amplify the work of local journalists striving to keep people safe. We used our AI expertise to integrate critical updates from multiple local media partners and integrated an interactive 3D map that tracked fire perimeters.
That same drive for responsible innovation is behind our latest innovation: NBot.
Backed by a decade of cutting-edge R&D, NBot is a personalized AI agent that gives users the power to shape their digital experiences. It learns what matters to you and adapts in real time, anticipating what you need and offering help before you even ask.
Now available in beta, NBot is empowering early access users with conversational control over what topics and issues they track, explore or avoid, as well as app notifications, recommendations, location-based settings, alerts, and more – making apps and platforms smarter and more relevant and useful. For example, you might ask NBot to set up an alert for relevant new information on an issue you care about, from local fire risk to national AI career opportunities to international sports results.
You can download NBot for free on the App Store and Google Play.
You can also try it out on NewsBreak, available on the App Store and Google Play.
